The Warriors made a huge comeback, but fell short. |
Since this inspiring win, the Spurs have gone on to finish the season at 55-27, with the Playoffs on the horizon and another rival, the OKC Thunder, as their first challenge to another championship defense.
Kevin Durant hit the hardwood even harder, blocked by Kyle O'Quinn as Brandon Ingram drained the 3PTer to give the Spurs an 11-0 lead to begin this exciting showdown, dominating the first quarter 46-28. At one moment, San Antonio was shooting 80% from 3PT territory, as Omri Casspi's shot went in for the 34-53 command. The Spurs led 61-73 at halftime.
Before long, the Warriors had trimmed it to 69-75, sparking an unbelievable 18-0 upswing, as Steph Curry buried the deathstroke in the corner for the momentary lead. The Spurs woke up and hit back with a 12-2 run, which quickly became a 9-0 run in their favor, 80-89. Kyle O'Quinn jammed it home for the 91-102 advantage, and Casspi answered Durant's deep shot with his own. Klay Thompson, clutch as ever, would tie the game once again in the final minute, but Durant would whack Ingram on a 3PT attempt, as the former Duke forward went 2-3 at the line. Durant missed a three-pointer next, and T.J. Warren iced the victory at the charity stripe as Ingram hounded Durant to trickle down the clock, forcing the ball to come loose as the buzzer sounded.
Avery Bradley had 25 points with 8 assists to go with 2 steals, making five shots from deep. Ingram finished with 26 points, 5 assists, 2 steals & 1 block. Dejounte Murray notched 20 points, 6 rebounds with 7 assists. Kyle O'Quinn had 13 points, with 5 boards and 4 blocks. Warren knocked down 23 points with 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Patty Mills only had 8 points, but Iman Shumpert & Dragan Bender combined for 14 points, as Skal Labissiere & Omri Casspi chipped in 10 together.
In the close loss, Durant took over for 32 points and Curry had 22 points. Thompson took 24 points back with him to Oracle, and Draymond Green had 21 points with 9 rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins had 21 points with 6 rebounds.
