Spurs edge Thunder in homestand, 104-111.

After going up by 1-PT in the final minute, OKC couldn't hang on.
Clinging to a 98-101 lead courtesy of two-made free throws by Brandon Ingram, the Spurs were able to make it last if just barely until the buzzer echoed through the AT&T Center. A clutch lay-up miss by Russell Westbrook (20 points) was met by misfires from long range by Patty Mills and T.J. Warren. The Spurs faithful's collective heart fluttered as Dragan Bender missed both free throws next and Ingram misfired from long range. The OKC Thunder answered with a big jam by the tongan Steven Adams (5 points, 10 rebounds), outdone by a fierce throw-down by Westbrook to nearly sneak out of San Antone with a 102-101 win.

Forty seconds remained on the clock as Mills whipped a risky pass to a streaking Bender, just out of the reach of Adams, whose lay-in gingerly fell through the twine, bouncing around on the rim. Iman Shumpert sealed the victory with a highlight-worthy steal on Paul George (14/31, 3 steals, 3 blocks) shortly after the inbound play, stifling PG-13's titanic effort to keep OKC in the game, a game-high 44 points: 102-105, SPURS. Adams would hammer in a dunk out of a timeout, but Patty Mills iced the win at the line, leaving Adams to miss a hook shot down low and the extra measure that came by T.J. Warren's corner 3PTer and free throws, the outcome already in hand.

The Spurs responded in the second quarter 38-28 after OKC sparked past them 30-24 in the first, edging the Thunder 21-27 in the final period. Both teams did shoot well below 50%, as the Spurs were chilly from long range, making only nine shots. The Thunder kicked themselves, missing 15 free throws, making 28 of 43 as the Spurs missed just 4 of 24. Even worse, OKC had 21 turnovers to only 7 by the champs, spoiling utter dominance of 55-31 on the glass.

A strange showing by its stars, the Spurs got the rough win tonight. Brandon Ingram had only 9 points on 3/9 shooting, making up for it with 3 steals and 2 blocks. T.J. Warren was the high man for San Antonio with 22 points and 2 blocks, despite 0/4 from long range. Patty Mills scored 18, making four from deep but attempting 14 overall. Iman Shumpert delighted with 14 points, 2 steals and 1 block. Dejounte Murray contributed 10 with 5 steals and Dragan Bender had a nice 10 points & 7 rebounds with 6 beastly blocks. Avery Bradley went 2/9 for five points.
