Spurs defend home court against Suns, Clippers & Bulls.
Coach Pop has reason to be happy so far this season. |
"Avery was great, tenacious as ever. He and Murray--boy, I'll tell ya--they are an absolute joy to watch on the defensive end," Pop said having watched Bradley hound LaVine into a 10-PT outing (4/9, 3 turnovers). The Spurs put on arguably their best performance of the season, shooting 61% overall and 15-29 from 3PT territory. Patty Mills had an electric showcase with eight made three-point bombs for 29 points, falling to the floor as the ball swished in as the final minute got underway. Avery Bradley splashed in five of his own from long range, finishing with MVP game honors and 27 points with 6 steals & 5 assists. The Australian Sniper has found his mark, again.
New arrival, donning #70 as his son Jr. wears for his football team, Zach Randolph got some burn in this game, with the Spurs wanting to play fire against fire and be physical against the Bulls, who defeated the Spurs earlier this season back in the Windy City. Randolph did not disappoint, putting up 18 points with 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks over the smaller guards of the Bulls. The hydra of harsh defensive pressure came in the form of Kyle O'Quinn (five blocks), Dragan Bender (3 blocks) & Joakim Noah (3 blocks) for a total of 11 overall. The Spurs collaborated on 31 assists with 15 team blocks and 16 steals for good measure, leading by nearly forty at one point, winning 107-139.
For the Bulls, Khris Dunn managed 29 points (13/23) but had 5 turnovers, pressed hard by Dejounte Murray (12 points, 8 assists, 2 steals). Robin Lopez was still a force to be reckoned with, barrelling in 8 points and 12 rebounds with 4 blocks for the Bulls. Brandon Ingram got some much-deserved rest after dropping 17 points with 1 steal & 1 block. Iman Shumpert had 11 points and T.J. Warren scored 9. Skal Labissiere notched five points off the bench. Otto Porter Jr. had 20 points, and Wendell Carter Jr. had 12 points off the bench.
