Avery Bradley is shining brightly as of late. |
Avery Bradley scored 34 points against 30 points from "Sweet" Lou Williams and the Los Angeles Clippers, as his team won 129-126 after a late run by the Clips. Bradley is becoming a staple for the Spurs, the likes of former Spur Danny Green and showing off his athleticism in ways that rival the departed Jeremy Lamb (still on the Clippers).
Avery had three steals in this home victory also. Brandon Ingram scored 23 points, and Dejounte Murray had 18 points with 8 assists and 3 steals, as the Spurs continued to establish defensive unity and scoring efficiency on the court. T.J. Warren dropped 18 points for good measure, combining with Ingram for four steals on the night.
"I just give my heart to each game, focus on my defensive match-up, do everything I can to help us win games. That's who I am. If it means diving on the floor, or smothering a guy full court in the first quarter of the game, that's...my calling," Bradley told reporters after the feel-good win. Avery also went 7-7 at the free throw line, as the Clippers late run forced them into intentional fouling strategy.

Dejounte Murray is earning his keep in Texas. |
Budding floor general, Dejounte Murray, scored 21 points against the Suns, a game-high token as Devin Booker struggled to score. Murray dished 8 assists, continuously improving his ability to see the floor and set up his teammates for winning basketball games. He swiped the ball over to the silver and black squad 5 times, also, going 9/17 overall. T.J. Warren scorched his former team in the first meeting since the trade, dropping 20 points. Dragan Bender also scored a solid 10 points with 3 impressive blocks, finding a sense of empowerment through reliable interior defense. Now departed Spur, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 4 points in 11 minutes, going 2/3 with 1 steal as the Suns lost 110-124 on the road (and this was after a 33-20 run in the final quarter). The Spurs had won the first quarter 32-25, and more so the 2nd Quarter a stark 38-26 stomping. The Suns fell to 11-19 on the season.
